Blue and nude hues

Today I'm keeping it plain and simple with a nude top, pumps, clutch, earrings and light blue jeans, adding a pop of colour with my jacket and bracelet.

I love wearing the Manipuri wrap(phanek) (also here) . Its a bit of a job when it comes to tying it the right way though. It is worn with a petticoat underneath and is tucked away in a particular style. We don't wear belts :) .

Here I am wearing a tribal phanek from the hills of Manipur. Tribal wraps are pretty versatile and are worn with smart tops, jackets and stoles(like this)by women in the hills of North East India. Fashion in North East India is always fresh, exciting, original and down to earth. Young women are very conscious of the latest fashions and are always in touch with the latest styles.

So, I paired my wrap with a faux fur shrug and a pair of satin bow shooties(bows like I have mentioned before have been my latest obsession! see this and this!). Fun for an evening party? :)

An ode to Kashmir

The state of Jammu & Kashmir in India is all about beauty. Beautiful sceneries, lakes, people, jewellery and beautiful embroidery! Kashmiri dresses and outfits are colourful, bright; and the embroidery intricate, elegant and mostly hand woven. I am wearing a Kashmiri woolen jacket with Kashmiri embroidery and a stole embroidered with a lovely floral Kashmiri design. This look is inspired by Kashmir and its a song of colour and beauty.

As I ponder on life and important things, Ginger's having a ball at the doggie park. She gets me thinking, all she needs is food, the occasional bone, play time and lots of love. Aah the simple uncomplicated life-nurturing and living the little precious moments. Everything else seems vain. The world's so materialistic..I could give it all up..Hmm...I'm wondering..Even if I give it all up, can I still keep the shoes?? :)..Huh..its a materialistic world and being a shoeaholic makes it even worse!

Orange Melange

I love my shoes. I usually buy the shoes first and then hunt and buy the pieces to go with it one by one, or simply just dress around the shoes :). Its orange day today in my world and am in a 'matchy matchy' mood. Thus, an orange shirt  to go with my orange shoes.

'Tis the season to layer up!

Bundle up this winter!Stay warm with multi-layers of clothing. One can really experiment with this one. Bring out your sweater vests, faux leather jackets(we love faux leather because we love animals!), old sweaters; chambray, plaid or plain shirts and mix and match them up to create cool layers!

I layered up with my plaid shirt, and a sweater, a simple jacket and boot socks for my boots.

A yellow pencil skirt offers exciting new ways to experiment. I wore mine with a black satin top that seems polka dotted but is really mini-starred. A bright orange tote to up the power quotient, some polka dotted d’orsay pumps and pearls to finish, this is how I dress it up! :)

Someone has been creating waves around doggie parks in the bay area! My now 8 month old Ginger!! She has been sporting a leopard fur collared jacket and has been turning heads in the dog lover's community :). This jacket is her own doing-she said no to the little tutu dress that said 'I am the reason we can't have nice things at home'. So ya, she's following her mama and she takes over the blog today!
Since it was so cold as you can see, she layered it with a pink sweater vest(which she has also chewed up a bit). She's not a bootie gal so no booties in this look. Ginger loves snow-a first experience for her-we ate lots of snow didn't we?  Ginji you go gal!!

Tribal Inspiration

Ok ok..I  wear these boots everywhere, but remember? can't wear heels yet because of my 'still healing' foot :(  But see I added bows! :) Remember my trench with the bow(here) (I also used them here)..am obsessed with bows right now! Clipped these onto the boot loops with hair clips :) .

The shawl is a hand woven shawl from the hills of Manipur, India ; a traditional tribal shawl.  Manipur, like other North East Indian states has numerous tribes native to its state. Each tribe has a trademark pattern woven into its shawls. One can only imagine the numerous designs and patterns that exist given the diversity of cultures in the region -there are hundreds of these little known tribes! North East India is a true treasure trove of art, design, fashion and style.

Its been cold and windy in the bay area and wrapping myself in warm and thick shawls has been the way to go ;) . Do they have 'Lazy fashion' style guides? Do I qualify lol?

Just a little fashion update for my friends..

The following are the colors to be seen in, for Spring this year..No no-I'm not saying to go shop for these colors(some of you say I have a certain influence, motivating you to go buy that long wanted dress or just splurge ;) . Trust me, I still have to categorize my 'Needs' and 'Wants' list;) <3 ); and don't want to advocate unnecessary spending ..SO instead, Dig up your closets!I'm sure you have at least one or two clothing items in these colors-then go out shopping-maybe end of season sales-I wouldn't be honest if I said that sale time is happy time for me ;but yes, one could get some good deals on extra buys. Sport these and stay chic!Of course, whatever you do, always remember:

I always loved dressing up for work. The heels need not be sky high if you're set with the other two :) (this is coming from the practical me(i know its not possible to wear them all the time-and also I can now associate with that all the more since i am still recuperating from a sprained foot; heels are totally out for now :(   ).
