The Tricolor

Happy Indian Independence Day!

I'm paying a tribute to my country by wearing the colors of its flag;the Tri-color ;Saffron, White and Green. An orange top(not saffron but close) and green pants and a hint of white with my little pouch.

The Indian flag has always had a profound effect on me. It has the power to knot me up in the chest too! That's the effect patriotism has on me!:) So here's paying tribute to India and her independence in my own way, despite being far away from its soil!Have a great day friends! Love!

Crochet top

I've been a lover of crochet since I was a little girl. Mama used to crochet sometimes and I remember the cool breezy window, with curtains blowing; by which she used to sit and embroider, crochet, knit and stitch for us :) . I was one of the lucky girls growing up, whose clothes used to be stitched by mum with pretty little flowers and butterflies, now vintage, now very Etsy! :)

Crochet has been in for sometime now. The top I'm wearing is my take on the crochet trend!

I have paired it with a black and gold ethnic Indian maxi skirt and a pair of satin blue pumps. I love the way this skirt ruffles when I move.Having fun with dressing up as always! Have a great day and week ahead!

Navy, brown and turquoise

It's a mix of colors today with navy, brown, turquoise and yellow. Sometimes we can create a pretty cool outfit with unconventional pairings can't we? Keep experimenting! The weekend's just around the corner!Hang in there!

Stripes and florals

Mixing prints is the norm these days. I am mixing my stripes with my florals today. I had earlier mixed plaid checks and florals(here) and florals with a leopard print(with my shoes)(here). I am experimenting with only 2 pieces of my outfit and I like to mix with subtle and soft prints. You can experiment with bolder prints-you just have to play around with it a little bit but be careful or you could end up sporting a fruit salad!I am not a big fan of that particular Gaga trend, are you?

Have you interpreted the mixing prints trend yet?

Ethnic-chic

I was recently invited to a prayer ceremony at a local temple. I chose to go with the apt attire that the occasion called for. Another opportunity to dress up :) . A salwaar kameez!

Indian ethnic wear is a feast for one's soul! The vibrant colors, textures, fabrics and designs are exquisite-to say the least. My outfit is a swing-kameez with a shrug jacket and churidar(the leggings/tights). I accessorized it with silver jewellery(the best part of wearing traditional attire-one can never go overboard with the jewellery :) ). On second thoughts, I wish I had worn more bangles.hmm or even a sari....-maybe the next time!  So here I am!

Palazzo pants

I have been wanting a pair of palazzo pants for some time now and my sister (my best mind reader) gifted me this beautiful swallow printed pair. They're so comfortable and flowy (especially since I put on weight after being fed by my mom  ;) ) , I wear them all the time-perfect lounge pants!

So obviously, something so comfortable had to be worn out too :). Perfect for sunny days paired with a hat aye?

Happy Wednesday! and a quote for you:

A style folk tale

Hola pretty women! I'm back from my vacation! Was pretty jet lagged for quite a while but am fully renewed now and all set to continue with my style journey. Are we set? :)

Today I bring you a whiff of Sikkimese grandeur..A cozy state in eastern India, nestled in the lap of the grand Himalayan mountains and the land of the Kanchenjunga(my favourite mountain peak :)  ). A pretty Indian state with even prettier and coy women and beautiful people!

I am wearing a classic silk 'Baku' the traditional dress worn in Sikkim(it is a variation of the Tibetan version of the dress). It is also worn in Ladakh and Darjeeling in India and in Bhutan as well. I replaced the 'Haanju' (which is a shirt like inner garment-usually made of elegant silk or satin) with a collared matching shirt. I have always loved this attire and have worn it to formal parties. It's exquisite and I have always found it exotic. Am hoping to get my hands on more of these with its myriad styles!

Geometric style

Geometric prints were all the rage last fall. I wouldn't say I would go shopping for the trend, but if I do come across something I like, I wouldn't mind trying it!I like to dig through my wardrobe and find stuff that I could work around, mix n match and style in a riveting way.. And voila! I found this dress with a square patterned border!..and there's more..it had a bow!! Oh Yay! ;) Simple squares but fits the bill ha?

One shirt, four ways

I have been wearing my favorite plaid button down in different ways. Here are a few ways I have been sporting it around. I have layered it with a simple V neck sweater(and added a bow to it ;) )-(remember how I've used bows earlier?? :) see this and this ), worn it with a military jacket, layered it with a racer back underneath and worn it tucked in a skirt. Have a great weekend mon amie!
