Plaid and my sister

The plaid trend according to me, was set by my sister. Really! Long before plaid became a staple in one's wardrobe, my sister sported them , day in and day out..So this look is a tribute to my sister-the bestest in the world!

I have had this skirt for a long time but was never satisfied with whatever I paired it with. When I got myself this flannel shirt, my dilemma was solved!I wore this for a night out.Has the skirt been done justice to? :)

My boucle jacket has been very worth the buy. I wear it everywhere-with casual as well as formal outfits. Its a versatile piece which dresses up any outfit and I would recommend all my girl friends to have atleast one of these in their wardrobes!Dress up chicas! <3

Interpreting peplum

It was a little warm last weekend and perfect weather for a skirt. I am crazy about floral prints and when I found this floral peplum skirt, I picked it up without thinking twice. I paired it with a plain yellow sleeveless top with some detailing on the neckline, a pair of fuschia pumps and gold accessories for a fun afternoon look.

Thanksgiving luncheon

I was invited for a lovely thanksgiving luncheon. There was bonhomie, laughter, food and more food!!Turkey with the yummiest stuffing, scones,rolls,mashed potatoes with gravy, apple strudel.. Yumm!!  Warmth all around, I could smell it in the air!!

I decided to keep it simple and semi-formal, so I paired a pair of black jeans with a black blazer, black pumps; add  to it a statement necklace and I was good to go! :) Hola already, lovely weekend!!

Karaoke night

It was a little chilly when we went out 'Karaoking', to celebrate a friend's birthday.My blazer wasn't enough, so I layered it with my leopard cardigan. I think I quite liked it.What do you think? :)

Diwali Splendor

My long time school friend Manasa organized a lovely Diwali party this year, complete with Indian food, firecrackers and Indian dress ups ;) Yay!It was time to bring out our Indian clothes!!I chose to wear this white salwaar kameez which I had kinda 'upcycled'. I loved Kate Middleton's bridal gown which she wore for her royal wedding , especially the lace neckline. To add an Indian twist, I decided to incorporate the look in a salwaar kameez. I had an old Biba salwaar kameez with lace, bought some chiffon material and showed the design to Roshan Tailors in Delhi..and Voila! we managed to create this piece!

Easy DIY studs

I fell in love with these little paper roses the moment I lay my eyes on them!Since then, I have used them everywhere-in my scrapbook, on my hair, in little vases-basically wherever I could imagine them! This is how I used them as studs using velcro  sticky backs..Your ears don't even have to be pierced for these! Sticks easily and lasted all day!

Manipuri couture

My February wedding was followed by a small reception. The Manipuri phi( stole) and phanek( wrap) are traditional pieces worn on most occasions in the community. Add vintage jewellery pieces and you have a complete traditional look which is very elegant!

I may not follow trends , may not afford big brands but yes I do love to interpret, adopt and hunt for practical and affordable styles to suit my personality and body type! Fashion for me is knowing what looks good on you and being able to carry that off with panache just for the love of clothes and shoes!I am originally from Manipur, India and try to incorporate elements from Manipur/North East India and India and into my wardrobe.
